High school boys basketball action has tipped off around the country and the 2025-26 season is upon us as teams around the country look to establish themselves early on as national powerhouses with some big matchups having already taken place.

Leading the way in our first Top 25 National high school boys basketball rankings of the regular season is Dynamic Prep (TX), which is off to an impressive 4-0 start. Which other teams around the country join the Bearcats in being considered as one of the top teams in the land, though?

High school football season is nearing its end and we begin transitioning to the hardwood as we take a look at who are the top teams from around the nation in-season.

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory as of Dec. 2.

    1. Dynamic Prep (TX) (4-0)

Dynamic Prep are led by former NBA star forward Jermaine O’Neal and are set to join Overtime Elite, one of the premier destinations for top prep basketball programs and top prospects. The team is loaded once again and features several of the country’s top players in 2027 four-star small forward Marcus Spears Jr. and 2026 four-star shooting guard Dakari Spear, who this past summer with Drive Nation on the EYBL Circuit, averaged 13.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Dynamic Prep has already opened up the season with impressive victories against No. 5 Columbus and No. 7 Faith Family Academy, respectively.

    2. Link Academy (MO) (3-0)

The Link Academy Lions (3-0) had entered the 2025-26 season on the outside looking in to the way-too-early national high school boys basketball rankings Top 5, but make the move up after notching wins over Pembroke Hill and Wasatch Academy, respectively. What can’t be questioned when looking at Link Academy is the level of talent dotted up and down the roster this season. The Lions feature one of the top front courts in the country, with Michigan State commit Ethan Taylor at center alongside power forward Tristan Reed (Mississippi State pledge). Not to be completely out done is the talent in the backcourt, led by junior four-star point guard Davion Thompson and Carlos Medlock Jr. (Michigan State commit).

    3. Paul VI Catholic (Va.) (2-0)

Hard to miss a team like Paul VI Catholic (2-0) that’s absolutely stacked with talent and has shown in the early going why they have to be in the conversation of one of the country’s best high school boys basketball programs. The Panthers have tipped off the regular season with a pair of blowout victories over John Carroll School and Father Judge, respectively. When it comes to a team like Paul VI Catholic, the Panthers are expected to be one, if not, the best team in the DMV region behind a slew of backcourt talent, led by 2026 five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr. and 2027 three-star combo guard Troy Tomlin, respectively.

    4. Fishers (IN) (3-0)

The high school boys basketball season started a couple weeks ago in Indiana and the Fishers Tigers have looked every bit of being the best team in the Hoosier State so far through three games. Wins have come over Ben Davis, Terre Haute North Vigo and Tech thus far as Fishers starts to head into the tougher portion of their regular season schedule in the early going. The Tigers will be tested in the coming days and weeks in contests versus state-ranked Mt Vernon, Noblesville and Hamilton Southeastern. Leading the way for Fishers is that of combo guards Carsen Eloms (Wisconsin commit) and Gage Sturgill.

    5. Columbus (Fla.) (1-1)

Life after the Boozer brothers has begun for the Explorers, but don’t think for one minute that this high-level basketball program has taken any sort of dip whatsoever when it comes to the talent pool out of the 305. Columbus is coming off winning a fourth straight Class 7A state championship and though the team will look a little different, expectations remain high regardless for the Explorers. Leading the team this season will be a pair of senior four-star small forwards in Caleb Gaskins and Jaxon Richardson, son of former NBA star Jason Richardson. The Explorers have split their first two games of the season, most recently defeating Woodward Academy (Ga.), 89-63.
