A week after pulling his commitment from Troy, Carmel senior quarterback Anthony Coellner announced Friday that he has committed to Boston College.

Coellner, who took an official visit to Boston College this week, broke Mark Herrmann’s career passing record at Carmel that had stood for nearly 50 years. Coellner completed 71.1% of his passes this season for 1,737 yards and 18 touchdowns and finished his high school career with 4,570 career passing yards and 43 TD passes.

“Anthony’s growth was a big reason for our success this fall,” Carmel coach Kevin Wright said. “He led one of the most productive offenses in school history while breaking Mark Herrmann’s school record for career yards passing. Going to Boston College to play for a coach like Bill O’Brien who has coached guys like Tom Brady gives Anthony an incredible opportunity to both be developed and attend one of the top universities in the country.”

Coellner plans to sign with Boston College next week and will enroll in January.
