On Friday at 7:59 p.m. a special weather statement was released by the National Weather Service until 10 p.m. for Northern Worcester as well as Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties.

“Localized snowfall across portions of western and central MA this evening, especially near Route 2 and portions of I-91 between Hadley and Greenfield. Localized snow accumulations of 2-4 inches have been reported across portions of Franklin County, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. Poor visibility less than 1 mile is also possible within the heavier snow bands. Additional localized snowfall is possible before tapering off closer to midnight. Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination safely,” according to the weather service.

Advance Local Weather Alerts is a service provided by United Robots, which uses machine learning to compile the latest data from the National Weather Service.
