    Eagles Drop to No.4 Pitt

    PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Boston College Eagles (16-14, 5-13 ACC) fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-18) to No.4 Pitt (24-4, 16-2 ACC) Sunday afternoon at the Fitzgerald Field House.
     
    Audrey Ross led the Eagles with 11 kills and added five blocks. Cornelia Roach recorded five kills and three blocks, hitting .455. Freshman Sofija Marjanovic also tallied five kills, adding five digs. Lucy Mott led the offensive charge with 21 assists; she added four block assists. Freshman Bella Ehrlich led the defensive blocking effort posting five block assists. Brooklyn Yelland anchored the back row with eight digs; she added five assists.
     
    The Eagles trailed by seven at the media timeout, the Panthers leading 15-8. Kills from Ehrlich and Ross (2) assisted the Eagles offense, but Pitt maintained their lead, lengthening the gap to 20-12, forcing a BC timeout. The Eagles turned up the heat with block assists from Mott, Roach (2) and Herrington and a kill from Roach put the Eagles within five, trailing 21-16, but a final 4-0 Pitt run secured the first set for the Panthers, 25-16.
     
    Sofija Marjanovic opened up scoring for the Eagles, setting the tone early. A 6-0 Pitt run forced an early BC timeout, up 7-2. The Eagles and the Panthers traded points going 11-12 to land the Eagles within four, trailing 18-14. A 3-0 run from the Panthers lengthened the gap pushing them to a 21-14 lead. A kill from Ross and service ace from Savannah Curtis assisted the offensive effort, but a final 3-0 run closed the second. Pitt took the second set, 25-17.
     
    The Eagles trailed by five at the media timeout, Pitt holding a 15-10 lead. Coming out of the timeout, the Eagles went on a 5-1 scoring run, landing the Eagles within two, trailing 17-15 to force a Pitt timeout. Responding with a 3-1 scoring run, the Panthers pressured another BC timeout. Though the Eagles came out with late kills from Sam Hoppes and Ross, the Panthers closed the set with a final 5-2 run to secure the set victory, 25-18.
