    About the Eagles

    Last Time Out

The Eagles suffered a 72-65 overtime setback to Harvard on Wednesday. The Crimson scored nine of their 13 points in overtime, while limiting BC to one field goal in OT. Lily Carmody (22 points) and Amirah Anderson (18 points) set career highs in scoring, while combining to score 40 points on 17-of-28 from the field. Ava McGee stepped up off the bench with eight rebounds and eight points, and Athena Tomlinson dished out seven assists.

    A Win Would

    – Give BC a 4-3 mark.

    – Snap the Eagles’ two-game skid.

    – Give BC a 15-4 record against the Minutewomen.

    – Give the Eagles an eighth straight win against UMass.

    By the Numbers

2 – Lily Carmody is one of two players in the ACC and 15 in the nation to average at least 15.5 points per game on under 10 field goal attempts.

3 – Head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee is the third-longest tenured coach in the ACC.

18 – The career-high 18 points by Amirah Anderson is the third-highest scoring output by a freshman in the ACC this season.

80 – BC is 55-4 under coach Mac when scoring 80 points or more.

    Efficiency on Display

Through six games, Carmody leads BC with 15.8 points per game on just 9.2 shot attempts and a 54.5 percent clip. She’s one of only two ACC players, alongside Miami’s Ra Shaya Kyle, averaging 15.5+ points with a 60% effective field goal rate. In addition, the sophomore guard is fifth in the ACC in scoring and seventh in field goal percentage.

    Rare Company

After dishing out seven assists against Harvard, Athena Tomlinson has recorded at least six assists in all six contests. The sophomore guard is one of three players in the ACC this century to dish out at least six assists in six games to start the season. Syracuse’s Tiana Mangakahia in 2017-18 (17 straight) and Maryland’s Kristi Toliver in 2007-08 (eight straight) are the only two players with longer streaks.

    What to Watch for

    – Over the last three games, Lily Carmody is averaging 17.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 58.8 percent from the field. She is coming off a career-high 22 points against Harvard. Watch if the guard can continue her stellar play.

    – Watch if BC can come up with second-chance opportunities, as UMass allows just under 15 offensive rebounds per game. The Eagles average 15.6 offensive rebounds in their three wins.

    – Watch if BC can get to the line against UMass on Saturday. The Eagles averaged just 15 free throw attempts over the last two games (0-2), while they averaged 21.3 during their three-game win streak.

    – See if BC can limit its mistakes after averaging 19 turnovers over the last two games. UMass is forcing 19 turnovers through the first four games of the season.

    – See if Amirah Anderson can build off her career performance from Wednesday. The freshman scored a career-high 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field.

    Scouting UMass

    –  UMass is coming off an 85-45 win over UMass Lowell in its previous outing.

    – Ayanna Franks led three players in double figures with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting and seven rebounds.

    – Yahmani Mckayle scored 15 and Megan Olbrys rounded out the leading scorers with 10.

    – Mckayle leads the Minutewomen in scoring at 17.5 points per game, pacing a scoring attack that has four players averaging at least 10 points per game.

    – Franks’ 7.0 rebounds per game leads the way, while she is averaging 10.8 points per game.

    – UMass is 14th in the nation averaging 20.3 assists per game, while its 38.8 percent from deep is 28th.

    Series History

The Eagles hold a 14-4 mark in the all-time series against the Minutewomen, including a seven-game win streak in the series. BC is 5-1 in Amherst, winning the previous two matchups on UMass’ home court.
