The Boston Bruins are atop the Atlantic Division after a 3-2 win in Montreal on Saturday night. It was a stirring revival of the storied rivalry and a night when Bruins’ fans felt some nostalgia. But it wasn’t without a price as forward Viktor Arvidsson and defenseman Charlie McAvoy were both felled with injuries. The Bruins will now have to dip into their 12-1-0-0 AHL affiliate for reinforcements.

The team announced the recalls of forwards Riley Tufte and Matej Blumel on Sunday as they each were out of the lineup for Providence. Tufte has eight goals and eight assists, which puts him in the top five for goals and points in the league. Blumel is tied for eighth in the AHL in assists with 11 and scored 39 goals for the Texas Stars last season to lead the league.

Tufte is a 27-year-old in his seventh AHL season. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound forward played six games with the NHL club last season and did not register a point. In all, the 2016 first round draft pick has scored 2 goals in 24 goals with Boston, Colorado, and Dallas.

The 25-year-old Blumel was a fourth round pick of the Edmonton Oilers in 2019. Blumel is in his fourth AHL season and has totaled 91 goals and 100 assists in 210 games. The 6-foot, 200-pound right wing also registered 16 points in 14 postseason games with Texas last season.

The Bruins host the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night at TD Garden.
