Aidan Birr kicked a 23-yard field goal with 11 seconds remaining as No. 14 Georgia Tech escaped with a 36-34 win over Boston College on Saturday. It kept the Yellow Jackets tied atop the ACC standings.

Haynes King completed 26-of-34 passes for 371 yards and a touchdown for Georgia Tech (9-1, 6-1 ACC, No. 16 CFP), which had to rally twice in the fourth quarter to stay on course for a potential spot in the ACC title game and an outside shot into the College Football Playoff.

Jordan Allen’s 54-yard touchdown earlier in the fourth put Tech ahead 33-28, and Jamal Haynes added a 2-yard score as the Jackets clawed back from a 28-17 deficit.

Boston College (1-10, 0-7) dropped its 10th straight despite a strong outing from Dylan Lonergan, who threw for 362 yards and two TDs. Turbo Richard’s 43-yard touchdown run gave the Eagles a 34-33 lead with 3:41 left, but the failed two-point conversion left the door open for the Jackets

King led a 13-play, 69-yard drive to set up Birr’s game winner. Lonergan’s Hail Mary was knocked down near the goal line as time expired for the Eagles.

BC’s Lewis Bond had eight catches to become the program’s all-time receptions leader with 206. One bright spot as Bill O’Brien’s seat stays hot.
