    CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — The Boston College women’s hockey team renews its crosstown rivalry this week with a home-and-home series against Boston University. The Eagles will host the Terriers at Kelley Rink before traveling to Agganis Arena on Friday evening.

    This matchup marks the first Battle of Comm Ave of the 2025–26 season and the 81st all-time meeting between the two programs.

    Both games will stream live on ESPN+ with puck drop set for 6 p.m. on Thursday at Kelley Rink, and 7 p.m. on Friday at Agganis Arena.

     

    INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

    • Boston College enters the week at 5–6–1 overall and 4–2–1 in Hockey East play, earning league wins over Holy Cross, Providence, Merrimack, and UConn.
    • The Eagles are averaging 2.00 goals per game while allowing 3.17.
    • BC averages 30.4 shots per game, while opponents are averaging 36.1.
    • The Eagles have been strong defensively, recording 190 blocked shots, an average of 15.8 per game, compared to opponents’ 11.8.

    SPECIAL TEAMS

    • Boston College’s power play has converted 4-of-34 opportunities (.118) this season.
    • The Eagles’ penalty kill has been reliable, allowing just six goals on 51 chances for an .882 success rate.
    • Kate Ham leads the team in special-teams scoring with one power-play goal and one shorthanded tally.
    • Madelyn Murphy has added a power-play goal and two assists with the advantage.
    • The Eagles have also scored once while shorthanded and once into an empty net.

    OFFENSIVE LEADERS

    • Ava Thomas leads the Eagles with 16 points ( seven goals, nine assists) through 12 games, ranking among Hockey East’s top rookies and overall scoring leaders.
    • Sammy Taber has contributed two goals and seven assists.
    • Kate Ham has posted four goals and three assists, maintaining a team-best .200 shooting percentage.

    BLUE LINE LEADERS 

    • Senior goaltender Grace Campbell has started all 12 games, posting a .917 save percentage, a 2.96 goals-against average, and one shutout.
    • Campbell has recorded five games with at least 30 saves. 
    • Olivia Maffeo leads the defenders with 28 blocked shots, followed by Cailin Flynn with 25 and Jade Arnone with 16.

    BY THE NUMBERS

    • The Eagles have scored nine goals in the first period, ten in the second, and five in the third this season.
    • BC is averaging 2.00 goals and 30.4 shots per game.
    • The team holds a 5–6–1 overall record, with a 1–1–0 mark at home and a 4–5–1 record on the road.
    • BC’s power play is operating at 11.8%, while the penalty kill sits at 88.2%.
    • The Eagles have won 44.8% of faceoffs, while opponents have won 55.2%.

    SERIES HISTORY

    • Boston College and Boston University meet for the 81st time in program history.
    • The Eagles lead the all-time series 44–28–8 and have won four of the last six matchups.
    • The teams last met in the 2025 Hockey East Semifinals, where BU earned a 3–2 overtime victory at Walter Brown Arena.

    SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY

    • The Terriers are led by veteran defenseman Tamara Giaquinto, the 2024–25 Hockey East Defender of the Year.
    • Senior forward Sydney Healey leads the Terriers with 10 points, recording five goals and five assists through 10 games this season.
