The Boston Red Sox have a few issues to address this offseason, with two of them being getting a first baseman of quality and addressing the logjam in the outfield. Luckily, there’s a potential trade that can address both of those problems.

Sammy James of Play Tessie proposed a trade that would send away All-Star Jarren Duran for a 30-homer-hitting first baseman in the Kansas City Royals’ Vinnie Pasquantino.

The trade would look like this:

Royals get: Jarren Duran

Red Sox get: Vinnie Pasquantino, Royals’ No. 9 prospect Ramon Ramirez

This past season, Pasquantino hit .264/.323/.475/.798 with 33 doubles, 32 home runs, and 113 RBI in 160 games played. He would be a great first baseman, and the Sox would get a top catcher prospect as well in Ramirez, which is always nice to have.

Would the Red Sox do this trade? Probably not; it would be more likely to happen if they swing and miss on Pete Alonso. Plus, Duran is honestly worth more than Pasquantino and a prospect, so the Royals would have to do a little better.

Hopefully, the Red Sox find the right first baseman, either through trade or free agency. Although it would be smart to keep a trade like this in the back pocket in case everything else falls through.
