FIFA has officially revealed the ball that will define the 2026 World Cup, announcing today that the tournament will be played with the Adidas “Trionda”.

The ball’s name is a fusion of “tri” and “onda”, the Spanish word for wave, symbolizing both the three host nations and the ‘motion and energy’ of the global game.

The Trionda embraces the unique identity of the first tri-nation World Cup, with a design that highlights the colors and cultural symbols of the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Red panels feature maple leaf patterns for Canada, green sections carry inspirations from Mexico, and blue elements showcase stars in tribute to the U.S. Together, they flow across a  white base in a wave-like motion that reflects the tournament’s unifying theme.

Technology also plays a key role in the design of the ball. While FIFA has not yet released the full technical specifications, the Trionda is expected to refine the ball-tracking sensor technology first introduced at the 2022 tournament.

As the first ball built for a 48-team, tri-host World Cup, the Trionda represents more than just a piece of match equipment.

It is both a technological achievement and a symbol of the cultural blend this tournament will provide.
