Family Promise Metrowest celebrates new play area with ribbon cutting

Family Promise Metrowest last week welcomed more than 60 guests to its Natick Center site for a ribbon cutting celebrating the opening of a newly renovated play area.

Family Promise, Natick
Let’s play—kids, FPM staff and board members, and supporters turned out for the fun.

Children, eager to explore, waited as staff, board members, and community partners and members gathered to mark the occasion. The renovation was made possible through generous funding from the Weezie Foundation, which supported the transformation of what was once a driveway into a safe, engaging space designed for children staying at the shelter or visiting while their families meet with staff. Additional support came from the Framingham Rotary Club and Bright Horizons Foundation, along with individual donations, underscoring how the community came together to see this project completed.

The new play area features turf, climbing structures, and interactive learning elements such as a magnetic wall that encourages exploration and strengthens STEM skills. Each element was carefully selected to serve a range of age groups while supporting children’s physical, social, and mental development.

With the addition of this play space, FPM continues its mission of not only meeting families’ immediate needs, but also creating environments where children can learn, grow, and simply enjoy being kids.

Save the date

Coming up on Nov. 6, at the Verve in Natick, is FPM’s annual Keeping the Promise event, with the theme, “Building Hope. Lifting Spirits.”

More on the mission

Family Promise Metrowest serves families facing homelessness and housing instability across the MetroWest region, offering shelter, homelessness prevention, and stabilization programs that support long-term success. A central focus of FPM’s work is helping families remain in their home school districts, minimizing disruption to children’s education and peer connections while providing parents with greater stability as they work toward lasting independence. FPM is able to do this work thanks to fundraising from foundations like the ones listed as well as events.
