    BOSTON COLLEGE AT STANFORD

    Records: Boston College 1-1, 0-0 ACC; Stanford 0-2, 0-0

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. at Stanford Stadium

    TV: ACC Network

    Radio: KNBR 1050 AM

Series history: Tied 2-2. The home team has won all four times, though the last meeting was in 2002. Stanford won at Stanford Stadium in 1979 and 2001.

Stanford storylines: Stanford enters its first home game and first ACC game of the Andrew Luck era in a familiar position – as a two-touchdown underdog . . . The Cardinal were picked to finish last in the ACC, and while the defense has improved from last year, the offense is even worse – 130th out of 134 FBS teams in yards (223.5 per game) and tied for 125th in scoring (11.5) . . . BYU dared Stanford to beat it through the air in Week 2, and the Cardinal passing game couldn’t get anything going, averaging 4.4 yards per pass with two interceptions and no touchdowns. Expect BC to employ a similar strategy.

Boston College storylines: The Eagles are coming off a heartbreaking double-overtime loss at Michigan State, and now travel across the country to play at a game that will start after 10:30 p.m. Eastern . . . They were picked to finish 13th in the ACC this season after finishing 7-6 last year in former NFL head coach Bill O’Brien’s first season, but have gotten off to a strong start offensively behind first-year starter and Alabama transfer Dylan Lonergan (8 TDs, 0 INTs).

Stats that matter: Stanford had 19 rushing yards against BYU last Saturday, its fewest since 2021 at Arizona State. … The Eagles had a conference-best 17 INTs last season. … Stanford has one offensive touchdown in eight quarters so far this season, while BC has scored 106 points in its two games … Stanford defensive tackle Clay Patterson has recorded at least one sack in both games this season. He had a streak of five straight games with a sack while at Yale in 2022-23.
