    ROUNDUP

     

    BASEBALL

    Connor Grieve went the distance and also helped his own cause with three hits and four RBI as No. 8 Braintree (16-8) defeated fourth-seeded King Philip 8-3 in a Div. 1 state semifinal.

    Matt Toland drove in two runs on two hits, and Pat Clair pitched three scoreless innings of relief as No. 11 Arlington Catholic (17-6) edged No. 7 Sandwich 5-4 in eight innings in a Div. 3 state semifinal.

    BOYS LACROSSE

    Joey McCarthy (assist), Oliver Rice (assist) and Teddy Glynn netted hat tricks to power third-seeded Norwell (16-6) past No. 7 Manchester-Essex 16-5 in a Div. 4 state semifinal.

    SOFTBALL

    Kiley Hogan struck out six and allowed one walk and three hits over a complete game shutout, and Hailey McMahon hit a two-run single as No. 6 Tyngsboro (20-4) advanced to the Div. 4 state final with a 4-0 victory over No. 2 Uxbridge.

    Alyx Rossi struck out 15 and allowed just one hit as No. 3 Bedford (21-1) defeated Hopkinton 3-1 in a Div. 2 state semifinal.

    GIRLS TENNIS

    Naomi Provost and Emily McIntosh won their matches in straight sets to help lead No. 4 Hamilton-Wenham (17-6) past top-seeded Lynnfield in a Div. 4 state semifinal. The other point came at first doubles where Olivia Romans and Evelyn Esdaile prevailed in three sets.

    No. 1 Longmeadow edged fourth-seeded Hingham 3-2 in a Div. 2 semifinal. Sara Tiru and Bailey Downes picked up two points for Longmeadow in singles and the third point came in first doubles as Ellen Kennedy and Nora McMahon of Longmeadow defeated Gabi Magner and Sammy Price 6-2, 7-5

    In second doubles Cassie McCabe and Maddie Cusack of Hingham defeated Maia Oh and Anaya Mohani 7-5, 6-3
