The fact that Carlos Narvaez continues to be far and away the best Red Sox rookie in 2025 — the year that promised to be The Year of the Big Three— is worthy of an Alanis Morissette lyric. (Here you go, girl: It’s like rain on your wedding day / A Narv home run, when you called up Roman too late). The fact that the Sox outright stole him from the Yankees obviously makes his story even better. (Tara Sullivan, Boston Globe)

We will still remember Narvaez’s clutch home run last night against the Yankees a few months from now? That probably depends on what the Red Sox do next. As of now, though, it propelled the team to what was arguably their biggest win of the year. (Rob Bradford, WEEI)

Interestingly enough, though, the clutch homer he hit last night almost didn’t happen, because Narv originally considered bunting in that situation. (Christopher Smith, MassLive)

As of this morning, Narvaez is second amongst all rookies in baseball with 2.2 fWAR. Despite this, he somehow only has he seventh-best odds to win the AL Rookie of the Year. The players with the eighth, ninth, and tenth-best odds are… Kristian Campbell, Marcelo Mayer, and Roman Anthony. (ESPN)

Yesterday Narvaez was one-half an all-rookie battery, with Hunter Dobbins taking the ball. Dobbins had mixed results, but in maintaining his composure in an important game, he showed why Narv calls him a beast. (Christopher Smith, MassLive)

But Narvaez’s solid production isn’t going to hush the clamor for a Roman Anthony promotion. And it’s no longer just fans whinging about Anthony being stuck in AAA, national writers are getting involved, too. Here’s one suggesting that the obvious move is to demote Kristian Campbell (or at least get him off second base, a position he appears to be very bad at), move Ceddanne Rafaela to the infield, and put Anthony in left (Ken Rosenthal, The Athletic)
