The Boston Red Sox have dealt with a revolving door of injuries since the start of the 2025 season.

With several key players currently sidelined and in various phases of rehab, there are positive signs that the team could be back at full strength after the All-Star break.

Reports over the weekend about the health status of Alex Bregman, Masataka Yoshida, and Tanner Houck were encouraging, to say the least.

But the latest report from Christopher Smith from Mass Live about rookie right-handed starter Hunter Dobbins’ timetable to return from the 15-day injured list couldn’t come at a better time with Walker Buehler struggling.

According to Red Sox manager Alex Cora, Dobbins took the first step in his rehab when he threw a bullpen session at Fenway Park on Monday.

“If everything goes well, he might go on a rehab assignment over the weekend and let’s see what happens after that,” said Cora per Smith.

Sidelined since being placed on the IL on June 22, Dobbins’ elbow has responded well to treatment and his current status makes it likely he could return to the Red Sox’s rotation sometime in the next week if all continues to progress as planned.

The 25-year-old has a record of 4-1 with a 4.10 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 59 1/3 innings this season. With Buehler slated to make at least one more start for the Red Sox before a final decision is made about his future in the starting rotation, it’s possible Dobbins could slide in and assume a permanent rotation spot if Buehler’s next start goes poorly.
