Fourteen years after helping the Boston Bruins win a Stanley Cup, Brad Marchand is one win away from helping the Florida Panthers do the same.

Marchand has been unstoppable for the Panthers in their Stanley Cup rematch against the Edmonton Oilers, netting six goals in five games, including five in their three wins.

The 37-year-old left winger made history with his two goals during Florida’s 5-2 win in Game 5. With his fifth and sixth goals of the series, he became the first player in NHL history to score at least five goals in a Stanley Cup Final with two separate teams.

Marchand also scored five goals for the Bruins during their 2011 Stanley Cup win over the Vancouver Canucks. It took him all seven games to score five goals, however, whereas he only needed five games to score six goals in this series.

The 16-year NHL veteran now has 13 goals in 25 career Stanley Cup Final games. He did not score during Boston’s 2013 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks and had two goals in the Bruins’ 2019 loss to the St. Louis Blues.

Marchand has 29 goals in 82 career playoff games. His 10 goals this postseason are a career high.

He’s proven to be a spectacular addition to the defending champs, who acquired him from Boston in March for a conditional second round (now first round) draft pick. While he only scored two goals in 10 regular-season games for them, he’s stepped up in the playoffs and has the Panthers on the brink of their second straight championship.
