Aaron Civale shouldn’t get too comfortable in Chicago.
Just last week, the White Sox traded for the right-handed starter, getting him from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for first baseman Andrew Vaughn.
But the White Sox “won’t have Civale in uniform long,” USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported Sunday.
“They plan to trade him at the July 31 deadline, believing they could get at least a couple of mid-tier prospects in return,” according to Nightengale.
The Brewers traded Civale two days after he requested a trade following a demotion to the bullpen.

Milwaukee made that move so it could call up top pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski. The rookie threw five shutout innings in his MLB debut Thursday, helping the Brewers beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-0.
Before the trade, the Red Sox were very much on the radar of the 30-year-old Civale, who’s eligible for free agency after the season.
MassLive’s Chris Cotillo reported Thursday that Civale “would absolutely love to pitch for the Red Sox at some point in his career.”
But following Sunday’s blockbuster Rafael Devers trade, it’s not certain if acquiring more pitching is Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow’s top priority.

In exchange for Devers, Boston received four players, including three pitchers: right-hander Jordan Hicks, left-hander Kyle Harrison and right-handed prospect Jose Bello.
Before Friday’s trade, Civale made it clear the bullpen is the last place he wants to be.
“I still feel like I have a lot left to give as a starting pitcher,” Civale said, according to MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy. “This is not a situation where I’m trying to leave this team. All the guys are great. Coaching staff is great. The players are great. I love competing with all of them. Just, I feel like I still have more to contribute and more to give to this game, and I feel I’m best suited to do that as a starting pitcher.”
Civale made his debut Sunday in the White Sox rotation, giving up two runs in five innings in Chicago’s 2-1 loss to the Texas Rangers.

A Connecticut native who played his college ball at Northeastern, Civale is 1-3 with a 4.67 ERA in six starts this season.
