Yahoo Sports’ Jason Fitz and Caroline Fenton discuss the field at the Procore Championship and how this is an opportunity for team USA to tune-up before the Ryder Cup.

    Video Transcript

The Pro car championship at Silverado Resort in Napa kicks off with a powerhouse field.

All right, we’re headlined by world #1 Scotty Scheffler.

We all know that wouldn’t be anything if it wasn’t Scotty Scheffler, but he makes his debut alongside nine US Ryder Cup teammates.

You see them there, Sam Burns, Patrick Cantlay, Harris English, Ben Griffin, Russell Henley, Colin Morikawa, JJ Spaun, and Justin Thomas, and Cameron Young, aiming to shake off any postseason rust after the Americans 2023 loss in Rome.

Sorry, still too soon to talk about it.

The tune-up event doubles as a team-building opportunity.

Also, Keegan Bradley, remember, decided not to play.

Instead, he’s just going to be a captain.

So he’s there on site to foster chemistry and, uh, to test potential pairings.

So, uh, early tee times hint at possible Beth Page Black duos like Scheffler, Henley, Cantlay, Burns.

Looks like it could be good.

For Scheffler, fresh off two major wins, five total victories this year.

We all know he’s been dominating.

Uh, the recently lengthened Silverado course presents a bit of an opportunity.

He’s going to be able to extend his dominance on a layout favoring elite ball strikers.

And no, I didn’t think I’d be saying elite ball strikers on anything today.

Beyond the Ryder Cup stars, past winner Max Homa looks to capitalize on his nap of familiarity.

He’s one of 144 others that are battling for 2026 PGA Tour status, adding intrigue because we like a little bit of drama.

Bubble players like Joel Dahmen and Keith Mitchell fight to stay inside the top 125.

So, uh, the event is high-stakes survival and it starts the fall series.

We will keep you updated on all the PGA news you need as we get a little bit of action.

It’s going to be fun to watch that unfold.
