    CLASS NOTES

Following an 80-year absence for local high schools, Thanksgiving football made its return to Fenway Park in 2015. A decade later, it is a proud tradition that continues.

Major League Baseball and Fenway Sports Group announced Monday the holiday showcase will return to one of Boston’s historic landmarks this season, with four more bouts featuring some of the commonwealth’s largest schools.

Four separate games have been scheduled, slated to kick off on Tuesday, Nov. 25. The introductory battle will feature a showdown between two premier Middlesex League heavyweights, as Melrose faces off with Wakefield at 5 p.m.

Many are billing this game as the one to watch, and rightfully so given recent history.

A Bay State conference affair is scheduled to take place later in the evening at 7:30 p.m., with Newton North clashing with Brookline, a historic rivalry dating to 1894.

On Wednesday, Nov. 26, Plymouth North will take on Plymouth South in a 4 p.m. matinee. The battle (on the gridiron) of Lexington and Concord-Carlisle will serve as the nightcap at 6:30 p.m. This particular rivalry now extends nearly 101 years to 1924.

The events are presented by Cross Insurance, with tickets now available at $20 each. Attendees can catch both games scheduled for that particular day. For further information, visit www.mlb.com/redsox/tickets/events/high-school-football.
