Top-notch healthcare is accessible and abundant in the Bay State. Massachusetts tops all other states when it comes to health outcomes, according to a new study from WalletHub.

Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and other sources, the finance company ranked U.S states and Washington, D.C., based on healthcare metrics.

Although Massachusetts ranked higher for cost, the quality and quantity of care offered outpaced other states. When ranked based on weighted criteria, Massachusetts joined states like New Hampshire and Rhode Island in the top five.

The Bay State boasted the second-most doctors per capita, surpassed only by Washington, D.C., and claimed the highest percentage of insured adults and infants anywhere in the nation.

Massachusetts also had the lowest infant mortality rate in the U.S.

“[T]he best states for health care are those that make high-quality care affordable, on top of providing many options for doctors and making insurance easily accessible,” said WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo.
