The Boston Red Sox ended their six-game losing streak by delivering a much-needed 15-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.

Boston’s bats exploded for 15 runs on 18 hits while slugging three home runs in an exciting win at Fenway Park. The team had previously scored four runs in their last 28 innings before Saturday’s impressive display.

Red Sox rookie Roman Anthony was front and center during the team’s 18-hit barrage against Toronto pitching. Anthony, who was batting .128 before his breakout performance, collected his first three-hit game of his Major League career and also scored two runs.

Penciled as the designated hitter and batting second, Anthony got the Red Sox offense going when he singled off Blue Jay’s right-hander Chris Bassitt in the bottom of the second inning. He scored on a Wilyer Abreu double to give Boston a 4-0 lead.

With one out and new Toronto pitcher Paxton Schultz on the mound, Anthony drove a 93.5 mph fastball down the third base line for his second hit of the game.

Stepping to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning with Jarren Duran on first base, Anthony hit a ground-rule double to right field for his second extra-base hit of the game. Duran crossed the plate on an Abraham Toro sacrifice fly that gave the Red Sox a commanding 15-1 lead.

The multi-hit effort on Saturday marks the latest milestone for Anthony after he connected on the first big league home run of his career June 16 against the Seattle Mariners.
