The New England Patriots have opened their checkbooks wide, aggressively spending to reshape their roster for a new era in Foxborough.
In under two weeks into free agency, the team has already brought in 13 new players.

The biggest splash the team made was adding star defensive tackle Milton Williams, who just won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles. In the Super Bowl, Williams put up two sacks with a forced fumble, which he recovered. Williams was not the only former Super Bowl winner that the team added. They also added Carlton Davis, who won the Super Bowl alongside Tom Brady in 2021. Other notable names brought in include Harold Landry III, Robert Spillane, and Morgan Moses.
The majority of these players will be starters as well as immediate impact players.
Even still, the team’s two glaring needs remain, which are left tackle and wide receiver. On Thursday, the team had former Texans WR Stefon Diggs on a visit, but no deal was completed. Outside of him, options are few, and those who are available… are up in age.
At left tackle, the last realistic option is Jedrick Willis, who does have some familiarity with head coach Mike Vrabel. That being said, look out for the team to get creative so that when the draft comes, they have flexibility in who they select.
All in all, the Patriots have started this off-season off strong, burning cash as was said would be done in the 2024 off-season.
Not only this, but the money has been spent in smart places.
The front office may feel more confident in drafting a wide receiver along with a left tackle. Nonetheless, the roster has been massively upgraded for the 2024 season.
The additions made up to this point are bound to make the defense at least top 10. With a good draft, the Patriots could have a similar turnaround to the Washington Commanders.
Fans, get excited because something special is brewing.
