No. 8 Tennessee Tech goes down, as Western Carolina dominated the Golden Eagles 44-20. This hands Tennessee Tech their first loss of the season.
Quarterback Lex Thomas led WCU, finishing with 236 passing yards and one touchdown. Thomas didn’t stop there; he rushed for 19 carries and 94 yards. While the offense was moving, the WCU defense was on fire, forcing five turnovers and allowing only 53 rushing yards.

The Golden Eagles tried to capitalize on WCU’s 11 penalties, resulting in 127 yards. But the Golden Eagles couldn’t find flight. After going scoreless in the first quarter, they found themselves scoring 20 points, making the score as close as 20-17. With one minute remaining, Martin-Durham put the cherry on top, running in for his second touchdown of the day to cap off the upset win.
