CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – After an off day Tuesday, the 2026 Boston College Football team returned to the field Wednesday morning for its first fully padded practice of training camp.
Following practice, Special Teams Coordinator/Safeties Coach Matt Thurin met with the media alongside cornerback Syair Torrence and center Michael Crounse.
Wednesday’s practice featured red-zone and long-drive situations, as well as the daily drill and one-on-one work between position groups. Safety Carter Davis provided an early highlight for the secondary with an interception, while North Carolina transfer wide receiver Javarius Green answered with a toe-tapping sideline reception to spark the offense.
“As a returner to this position group, we just have to keep teaching the young guys while also teaching ourselves to do better. Everyone has something to improve on each day,” Torrence said after practice.
In the red zone, Nolan Ray powered through the pile for extra yards and a touchdown. Defensive backs Njita Sinkala and Torrence each added a pass breakup to keep the offense out of the end zone.
“It’s super fun to block for these guys,” Crounse said. “When you’re blocking and you get to the second level, and you see Evan Dickens, Bo MacCormack III and these guys bursting for a big run, that’s awesome.”
The play of the day came from quarterback Mason McKenzie and wide receiver Reed Swanson, who connected on a deep pass down the sideline in tight coverage for a highlight-reel connection.
The Eagles return to the practice field Thursday for their second consecutive day of practice. Practices are closed to the public.
