The Boston Red Sox are reportedly interested in multiple players ahead of the 2026 trade deadline.

According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Red Sox plan to be “aggressive buyers” at the deadline and have their eyes on Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto as well as Washington Nationals shortstop C.J. Abrams.

Boston also has a desire to trade for Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers, per Nightengale.

The Red Sox didn’t seem like they’d be buyers at the deadline earlier this season, as they held a mere 31-45 record on June 22.

They’ve gone 21-4 since, putting themselves back in the American League postseason picture.

With Trevor Story still on the injured list after undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia, Boston could add another shortstop on the trade market.

Neto is an intriguing option for the Red Sox, as he’s racked up 19 home runs and 21 doubles to go along with 46 RBI this season. The 25-year-old has consistently showcased his power at the plate for the Angles in recent years, compiling 49 homers from 2024-25.

As for Abrams, his 24 home runs are tied for the most among all shortstops this season. The two-time All-Star has also recorded 16 stolen bases and 20 doubles while posting a .286/.359/.544 slash line in 2026.

Boston could pull off a blockbuster swap to obtain Langeliers, who earned his first career All-Star nod this season.

The 28-year-old is hitting .263 with 18 doubles, 23 homers and 51 RBI while boasting an OPS of .830 during his 2026 campaign.

The 2026 MLB trade deadline is on Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. ET.
