2026 Massachusetts fireworks: Dozens of shows planned to celebrate nation’s 250th birthday

Summer fireworks season is on the horizon for Massachusetts, with shows scheduled from late May through September, including many around the Fourth of July — marking the nation’s 250th birthday. Here are some of the state’s most popular fireworks shows, followed by a complete list, based on permits filed with the Office of the State Fire Marshal.Boston: Fireworks are an annual tradition at the conclusion of the July 4 Fireworks Spectacular. Two fireworks shows over the harbor are also expected during Sail Boston, on July 11 and 15. Neither event appeared on the state’s official list of permits as of mid-May. Salisbury: Weekly fireworks shows on Salisbury Beach are scheduled from July 4 through Sept. 5. Lowell: LeLacheur Park will host four fireworks shows from May through August. Worcester: Fireworks shows are scheduled to follow numerous games at Polar Park.All consumer fireworks are illegal in Massachusetts, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal urges everyone to “leave fireworks to the professionals.” The office reports an estimated 700 emergency department-treated injuries associated with sparklers in 2023. Of those, about 600 involved children.
