Cameron Young on winning in front of President Donald Trump at Doral

Cameron Young was asked what it was like to get a thumbs up from President Donald Trump after his victory Sunday at the Cadillac Championship.

Nobody really knows what to expect from the Aronimink Golf Club in a major. The last time it hosted the PGA Championship, the Beatles hadn’t released their first album, and the New York Mets were in their first season. Tour pros have visited a few times since, the most recent for the 2018 BMW Championship, but the modern major championship history at this Donald Ross course outside of Philadelphia is essentially nonexistent.

That makes the 2026 edition of golf’s second major one of the most wide-open in years.

The 108th PGA Championship is scheduled for May 14-17 at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, a suburb just west of Philadelphia. The Donald Ross course was once called his masterpiece by the architect himself. It is the second time the PGA Championship has been played there, the first coming in 1962. That edition was won by Gary Player.

Defending tournament champion Scottie Scheffler, who won by five strokes at Quail Hollow a year ago, enters as the favorite again. Reigning Masters champion Rory McIlroy is right behind him as he chases the second leg of a potential calendar Grand Slam. But with so little modern course data to draw from, the field feels more open than most.

Here’s the breakdown of the odds heading into the 2026 PGA Championship, including the early favorites and potential sleepers.

    PGA Championship 2026 odds

Early favorites to win at Aronimink via FanDuel as of May 8, 2026.

    • Scottie Scheffler (+400)
    • Rory McIlroy (+750)
    • Cameron Young (+1400)
    • Jon Rahm (+1600)
    • Xander Schauffele (+1600)
    • Matt Fitzpatrick (+1800)
    • Bryson DeChambeau (+2000)
    • Ludvig Aberg (+2200)
    • Collin Morikawa (+2200)
    • Tommy Fleetwood (+2500)
    • Justin Rose (+2700)
    • Viktor Hovland (+3000)
    • Chris Gotterup (+3300)
    • Patrick Cantlay (+3500)
    • Brooks Koepka (+3500)
    • Justin Thomas (+5000)
    • Jordan Spieth (+5500)

The LIV drama hanging over the field

The backdrop to this year’s championship is the uncertain future of LIV Golf, which adds an unusual layer of intrigue to the field. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund announced it will fund LIV Golf only through the remainder of the 2026 season, leaving the circuit scrambling to find investors. DeChambeau and Rahm declined a window to return to the PGA Tour this offseason, but with LIV’s future now in doubt, their long-term situations remain unresolved. For now, both are legitimate contenders at Aronimink. DeChambeau has won two LIV events in 2026 and been runner-up at the PGA Championships each of the past two years. Rahm is the LIV standings leader and finished tied for eighth at last year’s PGA.

Phil Mickleson, who won the 2021 PGA Championship at pre-tournament odds of 250-1, announced he won’t play due to an undisclosed personal health matter

    2026 PGA Championship predictions

    CBS Sports: Scottie Scheffler

The World No. 1 has finished runner up in three consecutive events – the Maters, RBC Heritage and Cadillac Championship – and won this event by five shots last year.

    Golf Digest: Rory McIlroy

The two-time defending Masters champion is the only player in the field with a chance at the calendar Grand Slam this year.

    BetMGM: Cameron Young

Young has two wins already in 2026 and a T-3 at the Masters. Over his last six starts, he has recorded at least a +1.45 strokes gained tee-to-green per round in all six events he has played.

    PGA Championship 2026 Sleeper picks

    BetMGM: Gary Woodland (+8000)

Woodland is enjoying a renaissance in 2026. He won at Memorial Park and has course history at Aronimink, where he finished T-12 at the 2018 BMW Championship.

    Golf Digest: Justin Rose (+2700)

Rose had a two-shot lead on the back nine on Sunday at the Masters and has fond memories of Aronimink, where he won the 2010 AT&T National.

    CBS Sports: Matt Fitzpatrick (+1800)

Fitzpatrick has won three times since March and four consecutive top-12 finishes indicate he’s close to his best form. He won this event in 2024.

    Golf.com: Rickie Fowler (+5000)

Fowler finished eighth at Aronimink at the 2018 BMW Championship and his 2026 skill set fits the predictions of how this course will play, rewarding accuracy and short game over raw power.
