CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — No. 22 Boston College Baseball returns home for a two-game non-conference series this weekend against NJIT in the first-ever meetings between the two teams. Saturday is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start with Sunday’s first pitch slated for 2:00 p.m. Both games will air live on ACCNX.

    Scouting the Highlanders

NJIT is 15-27-1 overall this season with a 6-15 America East record. The Highlanders are coming off a 7-2 defeat to Manhattan on Tuesday in a midweek non-conference tilt. This past weekend, NJIT dropped the first two games of its league series against Bryant before bouncing back with a 5-3 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Austin Francis leads NJIT with a .282 batting average and nine doubles, and is tied for the lead in hits with 44. Lorenzo Camilleri has a team-high six home runs while Rowin O’Connor boasts 29 RBI. Josh Willitts has made 12 starts on the mound with a 4.94 ERA and 49 strikeouts and Mark Scamardella has a 3.49 ERA in 12 appearances with a team-high 62 strikeouts.

    The Matchups

On Saturday, Brady Miller and Josh Willitts will face off to begin the series. Miller has made 10 starts this season for the Eagles and boasts a 2-1 record. The sophomore has 47 strikeouts on the year, including a career-high nine earlier this season against No. 9 Virginia. Willitts comes into the game with a 4.94 ERA and 49 strikeouts.

Sunday will feature A.J. Colarusso against Brandon Peterson. Colarusso, the program’s record holder for starts in a career, has a 5-2 record this season in 12 starts with a team-best 54 strikeouts. Peterson has nine appearances this year and has a 2-2 record. He has 27 strikeouts over 34.1 innings pitched.

    Last Time Out

The Eagles traveled to Clemson and took game one of the three-game series on Friday before dropping the next two. With the win on Friday, Boston College set a new program record for ACC wins with 17.

During the win, the Eagles also earned a program record 15th save of the year, along with setting a new stolen bases record at 131.

    Running Wild

In the 2025 regular season, BC stole 130 bases, which was the 2nd-most stolen bases in the ACC and top-20 nationally. The Eagles have already broken that record with 134 steals this year. Julio Solier leads the group with 26 steals this season, which is tied for fifth most in a single season. He is four away from tying the single-season program record. Colin Larson is second with 21 steals, which is the eighth most in a single season.

The Eagles have four others with double-digit steals, with Jack Toomey and Ty Mainolfi tied for third with 18 each. Carter Hendrickson and Nick Wang, who have 12 and 11 steals respectively, round out the group with double-digit steals. The four Eagles with 18+ steals make the Eagles one of two teams to have four players with 18 plus. In total, BC has six players with 10+ steals, all in the top 25 of the conference. Eight others have stolen at least one base this year.

Luke Gallo leads that group with eight, while Ben Williams is second with six. Danny Surowiec and Gunnar Johnson have taken four and three, while Jace Roossien, Owen DeShazo, and Esteban Garcia have all stolen one. Cesar Gonzalez rounds out the group after stealing one against UConn on April 15th.

    D1 Baseball Positional Rankings

D1 Baseball announced its Week 12 positional rankings, with the Eagles landing four. Nick Wang leads the group as he was ranked 10th and third among ACC first basemen. Ty Mainolfi was second at 15th, which was fourth among ACC second basemen. Julio Solier and Luke Gallo were 22nd and 40th, respectively. Gallo was the fourth-best third baseman while Solier was the sixth in the ACC. A.J. Colarusso ranked 49th among Starting Pitchers and eighth in the ACC. Cesar Gonzalez and Gavin Soares were both ranked among the Top 100 Relief Pitchers, with Gonzalez coming in 28th and Soares 32nd. Gonzalez was seventh among ACC relievers and Soares eighth.
