CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — No. 24 Boston College Baseball will host Northeastern and UConn in a pair of midweek contests. The matchup with Northeastern will be on April 14 at 6:00 p.m. for the Beanpot Championship. The Eagles and UConn will meet on April 15 at 3:00 p.m. Both contests will stream live on ACCNX. This will be the second meeting with both teams this season.

    Record vs Northeastern

Boston College is 63-41-1 all-time against Northeastern, including a 23-21 record at home. They are also 17-8 all-time against the Huskies in the Beanpot and 2-3 under Todd Interdonato. The Eagles defeated Northeastern earlier this season, 3-2, on March 24. Luke D’Ancona earned the win that day with 3.2 innings of work and a career high six strikeouts. Julio Solier had two hits against the Huskies, including the insurance RBI in the top of the ninth inning, which gave Boston College its third run of the game.

    Record vs UConn

UConn holds a 66-47 series lead over the Eagles with a 36-26 record in Chestnut Hill. Boston College is 4-1 under Interdonato after winning the earlier matchup with the Huskies, 26-19, back on March 10. Sean Hard was the winning pitcher that day, throwing 1.2 innings in relief to close out the game. Nick Wang led the Eagles’ offense with eight RBI off three home runs. It was the first time in 10 years that a Boston College player had hit three home runs in a game, and the eight RBI were the most since he had seven, three years ago. Ty Mainolfi had four RBI as well, while three others had two.

    Scouting the Northeastern Huskies

Northeastern is 20-15-1 this season and 5-12-1 in CAA play so far. The Huskies won three of four over the weekend against Maine and Merrimack, but they dropped a 5-0 contest to Maine in the second game of a doubleheader on April 11. Harrison Feinberg is Northeastern’s hit leader with 45 hits and a .341 average. Feinberg also leads the Huskies in RBI (42) and home runs (11). On the mound, the staff has four arms with over 25 innings of work so far this year. Luc Rising is the leader with 43.1 innings thrown and a team high 39 strikeouts. The Northeastern staff has a 5.54 team ERA, including four with sub-4.00 ERAs, with Cooper Maher the lowest at 2.29.

    Scouting the UConn Huskies

UConn is 20-17 and 6-3 in the Big East. The Huskies took two of three over the weekend from Xavier after dropping the series opener. Jackson Marshall is UConn’s hit leader with 52, while Cam Righi has the highest average at .354. Righi is the Huskies’ RBI leader with 32, while Marshall leads in home runs with 10. UConn has four pitchers with over 40 innings of work, including Cayden Suchy, who has thrown 58.2 innings and has 75 strikeouts, both of which are team highs. They have three arms with sub-3.00 ERAs, with Charlie Hale having the lowest at 2.11.

    Last Time Out

Boston College took two out of three over the weekend from Virginia Tech after dropping the series opener, 9-8 in 11 innings. The Eagles won the 14th annual ALS Awareness Game, 8-7, before winning the finale, 6-2. Jack Toomey and Gunnar Johnson led the Boston College offense production over the weekend. Toomey went 7-12 with three doubles and two RBI. Johnson was 5-10 with 8 RBI and three doubles as well. On the mound, John Kwiatkowski and Tyler Mudd both earned victories, with Mudd throwing a career-high seven innings in the win on Sunday.
