The Los Angeles 2028 Olympics are still a few years away, but tickets for the premier sporting celebration recently went on sale. Right away, there was controversy.
Many were appalled by the pricing of certain Olympic events ($5,000 for the closing ceremony), and the immediacy in which certain events were sold out.

But what about surfing? The fairly-new Olympic sport, which will be held at the famed Lower Trestles during the LA28 Games? How can folks score tickets to that?
Well, we reached out to Olympic officials for a little clarity on how to get tickets to the Olympic surfing event during the LA28 Games. Here’s the official statement:
“Regarding Surfing as an event, the sport will be held at Trestles State Beach in the Trestles Beach Zone, known for its consistent waves and natural beauty, providing athletes a world-class setting for the LA28 Games.
“Surfing tickets were available in the LA and OKC Locals presale, and the current inventory is sold out. Those interested in surfing will have another opportunity to purchase when Drop 2 opens later this year!”

The presale tickets were available for people living in specific regions, such as Los Angeles (California Counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernadino, and Ventura). Then, randomly, those in the Oklahoma area (Oklahoma Counties: Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland). Go figure.
Those who scored tickets in the first drop for surfing spent just $28 – much cheaper than some of the other, more pricey events.
So, if you’re looking for surfing tickets at the Olympics, you’ll have to wait for the second drop, which, per a press release from officials:

“Additional ticket drops and registration opportunities will continue in the coming months, and registered participants will be eligible to purchase additional tickets to the Paralympic Games through the Paralympic Ticket Draw, beginning in 2027.
“If fans don’t see their desired sports or sessions in this drop, more tickets may be available in future drops if they haven’t reached their Olympic ticket maximum.”
