    BC Set for Hockey East Semifinals Against UConn

    BC Set for Hockey East Semifinals Against UConn

    CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 17 Boston College men’s hockey team heads to TD Garden Friday night to face the No. 13/14 UConn Huskies in the semifinals of the Hockey East Tournament. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on NESN+ and ESPN+ and can be heard on WEEI 850 AM.
     
    SETTING THE SCENE
    • The Eagles are 20-14-1 overall and are the No. 4 seed in the tournament
    • The Huskies are 19-11-5 overall and are the No. 3 seed in the tournament
    • BC is ranked No. 17 in both of the national polls
    • UConn is ranked No. 13 in the USCHO poll and No. 14 in the USA Hockey poll
     
    BC IN THE HOCKEY EAST TOURNAMENT
    • BC is 80-38-2 all-time in the Hockey East Tournament
    • The Eagles are 1-0 all-time against UConn in the tournament, with the lone matchup coming in a 5-4 victory in the quarterfinals during the 2023-24 season
    • Boston College is 19-8 all-time in the semifinals
     
    SHUTOUT WIN OVER MAINE
    • Boston College defeated Maine by a score of 5-0 on Friday evening in the Hockey East quarterfinals
    • Louka Cloutier made 18 saves to pick up the shutout
    • James Hagens led all scorers with three points on two goals and one assist
    • Dean Letourneau had one goal and one assist to finish with two points
    • Oskar Jellvik and Teddy Stiga also lit the lamp for the Eagles
     
    THE EAGLES
    • J. Hagens leads the Eagles in scoring with 45 points on 23 goals and 22 assists
    • Letourneau is second on the team in points with 37, scoring 20 goals and dishing out 17 assists
    • Ryan Conmy is second on the team in assists with 18
    • Lukas Gustafsson, Nolan Joyce, and Aram Minnetian are tied for the team lead in blocked shots with 36 each
    • Cloutier has a 19-12-1 record this season with a .911 save percentage and 2.29 goals against average
     
    HOBEY TOP 10
    • On Wednesday, the Hobey Baker Foundation announced that J. Hagens was named one of 10 finalists for the prestigious award
    • This marks the third straight year in which the Eagles have had a Hobey Baker Top 10 Finalist, following Ryan Leonard last season and Cutter Gauthier and Will Smith during the 2023-24 campaign
     
    HOCKEY EAST AWARDS
    • J. Hagens was announced as a finalist for the Hockey East Player of the Year award
    • Cloutier was named the Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Week on Monday afternoon
     
    A LOOK AT UCONN
    • The Huskies opened its postseason play with a 5-3 victory over Boston University in the Hockey East quarterfinals
    • Ryan Tattle leads UConn in scoring with 31 points on 13 goals and a team-high 18 assists
    • Joey Muldowney holds the team lead in goals with 17
    • Tyler Muszelik has played in 32 games between the pipes and has a .928 save percentage and 2.19 goals against average
    • Muldowney and Tattle were both named Hockey East Second Team All-Stars, while Muszelik was recognized as a Third Team All-Star
     
    SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THE HUSKIES
    • The Eagles are 21-8-2 all-time against the Huskies
    • BC swept the regular season series back in February
    • The Eagles picked up a 5-2 win on home ice, led by a hat trick from J. Hagens
    • BC earned a 2-1 overtime victory the following afternoon at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford off a game-winning goal from Gustafsson
    • Boston College is 8-2-0 over its last 10 games against UConn
     
    UP NEXT
    • With a win, the Eagles would play the winner of Merrimack vs. UMass on Saturday evening in the Hockey East Championship game. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 p.m. on NESN
