SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Boston College women’s basketball fell to Syracuse, 90-65, in the regular-season finale on Sunday afternoon at the JMA Wireless Dome.

The Eagles close the season at 5-26, while the Orange move to 22-7 and 12-6 in the ACC.

Jocelyne Grier paced BC with 20 points off the bench, knocking down seven field goals and going 4-of-5 from the free-throw line. Kayla Rolph added 13 points on 50 percent shooting to go along with six rebounds, and Lily Carmody finished with 10 points to round out the double-figure scorers.

Erin Houpt contributed eight points, shooting a perfect 6-of-6 at the line. The senior guard reached a milestone in the second quarter, scoring her 1,000th career point on a free throw with 3:51 remaining in the period. Kaia Henderson and Athena Tomlinson led the team with three assists, while Amirah Anderson posted a team-best seven rebounds.

Syracuse set the tone early, scoring 15 of the game’s first 17 points and shooting 54.4 percent from the floor to take a 23-13 lead after one. A Grier three-pointer trimmed the deficit to 10 heading into the second quarter.

Grier opened the second with a basket to pull BC within eight, but an 8-0 Orange run pushed the margin back to double digits. The Eagles chipped away at the line, highlighted by four straight free throws from Anderson in the final two minutes of the half, cutting the deficit to nine. Syracuse answered late to take a 41-30 lead into the break.

The Orange came out strong in the third, hitting five of their first eight shots, and maintained a double-digit advantage the rest of the way to secure the win.
