CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women’s basketball fell to Clemson on the road, 83-59, on Sunday afternoon in Littlejohn Coliseum. The Eagles are 4-22 and 0-13 in league action, while Clemson improves to 17-8 and 7-4 in the ACC.

Erin Houpt led the Eagles in scoring with 14 points on 3-of-4 shooting and 5-for-5 at the line. All three of the sharpshooter’s baskets came from beyond the arc. Kayla Rolph rounded out the leading scorers with 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

BC put on an early shooting display from beyond the arc, as Athena Tomlinson hit two of the Eagles’ first three treys to take a 9-4 lead with seven minutes remaining in the first. Clemson responded with a 15-3 run over the next 5:04 to take a 19-12 advantage. Houpt hit the fifth trifecta of the quarter to slice the deficit to four, 19-15, going into the second.

The three-point barrage continued in the second period when Jocelyne Grier’s 3-pointer gave BC a 27-26 edge with 6:36 left in the half. However, the Tigers responded by going on a 15-0 run to close out the frame with a 15-0 run. All eight of BC’s field goals in the first two periods were from 3-point land.

The Eagles were able to slice the gap to single digits after Lily Carmody scored four quick points late in the third period. The eight-point deficit was as close Boston College would get, as the Tigers shot 60 percent in the fourth and scored BC by 12 to pull away for the win.

BC returns to action on Thursday for a 6 p.m. tip against Florida State in Tallahassee.

    Tip-Ins

    • Houpt led the team through two games this week, scoring at 12.5 points per game. She shot 54.5 percent from the field, 60 percent from deep, and hit all seven of her free throw attempts.
    • Grier and Carmody each averaged 10.5 points through the two contests.
