Syracuse men’s basketball saw its three-game win streak snapped with an 81-73 overtime loss to Boston College on Saturday afternoon. The Orange fell to 12-6 overall and 3-2 in ACC play, while the Eagles improved to 8-10 and 1-4.
Syracuse struggled offensively, scoring 13 points below its average from the previous three games and getting outscored 17-9 in overtime. Turnovers and missed free throws proved costly down the stretch as the Orange were unable to close out the game in regulation.
Donnie Freeman led Syracuse with a strong interior presence, continuing his productive sophomore season, while Nate Kingz provided a lift with timely scoring, including multiple three-pointers in the second half. Despite building a seven-point lead late in regulation, Syracuse could not hold off a Boston College rally.
The Eagles tied the game in the final seconds when Donald Hand Jr. knocked down a three-pointer, capitalizing on a missed free throw and a Syracuse turnover to force overtime. Boston College carried that momentum into the extra period, scoring early and consistently from the free-throw line to pull away.
Boston College’s balanced attack and defensive pressure limited Syracuse’s top scorers for extended stretches, while the Orange committed key turnovers in critical moments. Syracuse’s inability to control tempo and execute late allowed the Eagles to secure the overtime win, marking a damaging conference loss for the Orange.
