The Massachusetts high school football campaign has entered the state championship stage as the MIAA state title games are set to take place at Gillette Stadium this week.

There’s a change at the top once again as Tabor Academy lept over St. John’s Preparatory School, which falls to No. 2 after losing to No. 4 Xaverian Brothers on Thanksgiving morning, in this week’s set of rankings. Which other teams join the aforementioned teams in the latest Massachusetts high school football Top 25 rankings?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Massachusetts high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Dec. 1.

    1. Tabor Academy Seawolves

The Tabor Academy Seawolves (9-0) regain their No. 1 ranking after capping their Massachusetts high school football season with a 42-21 victory over Buckingham Browne & Nichols School a couple weeks ago in the John Papas Bowl.

feature one of the Massachusetts’ most talented rosters bar none. The Seawolves have a bevy of Division I talent, which includes players like junior quarterback Peter Bourque (Michigan commit), Amahn Williams (UCF commit) and a pair of UCLA defensive linemen commitments in Carter Gooden and Marcus Almada, respectively.

Tabor Academy was impressive in their regular season opener, a 37-6 rout of The Williston Northampton School, following it up with a dominating outing over The Governors Academy in a 46-6 rout and then taking care of business against Milton Academy in a 51-26 win and St. Sebastian’s School, 39-21.

    2. St. John’s Preparatory School Eagles

The St. John’s Preparatory School Eagles (11-1) are heading to the MIAA Division I Super Bowl game this week, but will have a loss under their belt to  Xaverian Brothers, the very team they will face in this week’s championship tilt in Foxboro.

St. John’s boasts having one of the best sophomore quarterbacks in the country in Christopher Vargas, who is coming off a solid freshman campaign. Vargas against the Catholic Memorial Knights this season ended up throwing four touchdowns on 20 of 29 completions.

The Eagles needed a strong offensive performance to overcome a big night by Leominster quarterback Osiris Lopez, who is a Coastal Carolina commit, to pull off a 48-32 win in the second round of the MIAA Division I playoffs.

    3. Catholic Memorial Knights

Catholic Memorial (8-2) are once again loaded with Power 4 talent, as they showed of the bevy of future Division I talent when they soundly defeated rival Boston College High, 48-27. Among the myriad of Boston College commits are 2026 three-star linemen Marcelino Antunes, Mac Fitzgerald, 2027 safety Jackson Tucker and 2028 athlete Ramar Thomas.

The Knights are always in the mix when it comes to MIAA’s Division 2 classification and their most impressive victory of the season was a 56-32 romp over St. Francis (N.Y.) several weeks ago. The Knights dropped their first game of the season a few weeks ago against Xaverian Brothers with New England Patriots’ quarterback Drake Maye in attendance, 25-22.

Catholic Memorial will face off with Bishop Feehan (9-1) for the Division II Super Bowl on Saturday.

    4. Xaverian Brothers Hawks

The Xaverian Brothers Hawks (10-2) move up a spot in this week’s edition of the Massachusetts high school football rankings as they defeated rival, No. 2 St. John’s Prep in a 21-18 Thanksgiving Day thriller.

Armed with one of the state’s best quarterbacks in junior signal caller Will Wood, the Hawks are making a run towards winning a 13th state championship and they’ll have to do so against a team they just faced in No. 2 ranked St. John’s Prep on Dec. 6 at Gillette Stadium.

With having a win under their belts heading into the game, the Hawks may have a mental edge heading in.

    5. King Phillip Regional Warriors

King Philip Reg (12-0) moved down to the No. 5 spot in the latest Massachusetts high school football rankings after cruising to a 49-19 beatdown of Franklin on Thanksgiving.

The Warriors are coming off another strong season in the MIAA’s Division II classification, in which they went 12-1 and reached the state championship game, losing to Catholic Memorial. With an advantageous schedule that mimics last year’s, the road back to the title game looks clear once again for the Warriors.
