    CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College fell to Davidson, 59-49, on Friday afternoon at the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic. Donald Hand Jr. led all scorers in the contest with 14 points. 

    FIRST HALF

    • Jayden Hastings logged the opening four points for BC, posting up the Davidson defenders and laying in back-to-back hook shots
    • Buckets from Chase Forte and Hand Jr. gave the Eagles a 12-7 lead into the first media timeout. The Wildcats responded with a 16-4 run, holding a five-point edge at the eight-minute media
    • BC answered with an 8-2 run, capped by an Aidan Shaw dunk and three-pointer from Fred Payne to reclaim a four point lead with just over four minutes remaining in the half
    • Deadlocked at 31-31, Davidson used a driving layup to grab a two-point lead. That score, 33-31, would hold going into halftime

    SECOND HALF

    • Up by six at 16:39, Fred Payne used a layup and a three-pointer to cut the deficit to three
    • The Wildcats responded with a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 10 with 7:42 remaining
    • Hastings and Hand Jr. scored to keep the game within single digits before back-to-back paint points built Davidson’s lead back to 12
    • The Wildcats would hold on for a 59-49 decision

    NOTABLES

    • Payne registered 10 points, extending his double-digit scoring streak to four games
    • Hastings hauled a career-high 10 rebounds, and Shaw collected nine
    • Hastings also added a season-high 11 points, shooting an efficient 5-for-6 from the field
    • This afternoon marked the first defeat to Davidson, evening the all-time series to 1-1

    WHAT’S NEXT

    • Boston College will play Tulane in the consolation game of the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic on Sunday, Nov. 23.
    • Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. (ET) and can be seen live on ESPN2
