CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College volleyball team (16-12, 5-11 ACC) fell 3-1 (20-25, 20-25, 25-13, 18-25) to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (13-14, 7-9 ACC) Sunday afternoon at the Margot Connell Center.

Audrey Ross led the Eagles with 16 kills. Sequoia Layne wasn’t far behind recording nine kills. Lucy Mott guided the offensive front posting 34 assists, she added 10 digs. Freshman Bella Ehrlich and Audrey Ross both led the team with 6 block assists each. Brooklyn Yelland anchored the back row tallying 12 digs.

The Demon Deacons came out to a hot start taking an early 9-4 lead forcing a BC timeout. The Eagles came back with a 6-4 run with kills from Marjanovic (2) and Ross, and blocks from Ehrlich (2), Mott and Herrington to force a Wake Forest timeout. Two service aces from Yelland and a service error from Wake Forest shortened the gap to one as the Eagles trailed 14-13. The Demon Deacons fired back with five huge kills, pushing their lead to 20-17 and forcing an Eagles timeout. Despite late kills from Layne and Ehrlich and an ace from Marjanovic, the Demon Deacons secured the first set, 25-20.

The Eagles and Demon Deacons came out fighting in a tightly contested second set as the score evened five times before a 4-0 Wake Forest run pushed them to an 11-8 lead. Coming off of a BC timeout, kills from Ehrlich and Layne and a Wake Forest attack error evened the score at 11 a piece. The Eagles and Demon Deacons evened the score again at 19-19 before a 5-1 Wake Forest run secured the second set, 25-20.

The Eagles started the third strong taking an early 7-2 lead behind kills from Ross (2), Ehrlich and aces from Ali Natt, Yelland and Marjanovic. A 4-0 scoring run from the Demon Deacons put them within one, trialing 7-6. The Eagles responded with a 6-2 scoring run to push the lead to 13-8, forcing a Wake Forest timeout. Though the Demon Deacons came up with a pair of blocks, an 11-1 scoring run from the Eagles extended their lead to 13, leading 24-11. One final kill from Herrington secured the third set for the Eagles, 25-13.

In another tightly contested set, the Eagles and Demon Deacons tied four times before Wake Forest solidified a 15-12 lead at the media timeout. Wake continued their lead going on a 6-2 run to extend their lead to 21-16, forcing a BC timeout. A final 4-2 run from Wake Forest secured the fourth set and the match for the Demon Deacons.
