Brandon Durkee, Attleboro — The senior edge rusher tallied four sacks to lift the Blue Bombardiers to a 32-21 win over Brockton in nonplayoff action.

Jon Funk and Max Lisysyan, Acton-Boxborough — The senior duo led a stellar effort in the trenches for the Revolution in a 42-22 win over Haverhill. The defensive line forced two fumbles, recorded two sacks, and held the Hillies under 100 rushing yards, and Acton’s offense rushed for more than 300 yards.

Maxwell Parent, St. John’s Prep — With star quarterback Chris Vargas injured, the Eagles leaned even more on their rushing attack and Parent came through with a school-record 354 yards and five touchdowns, carrying the No. 1 seed to a 48-32 win over Leominster.

A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday.

Caden Smith, Central Catholic — It took a big effort from the dual-threat junior quarterback on the ground (22 carries, 171 yards, 2 TDs), capped by the winning score from 5 yards to lift the No. 5 Raiders past No. 4 Natick in a 20-17 overtime thriller. Smith went 8-of-14 passing for 56 yards.

Will Wood, Xaverian — The two-time defending champions handled No. 6 Andover, 49-17, in the quarterfinals behind an efficient performance from their junior quarterback (10-of-15 passing, 166 yards, 4 TDs; 52 rushing yards).

    Division 2

Andrew Orphanos, Xavier Baker, Bishop Feehan — Orphanos and Baker led a well-balanced attack in a 33-12 quarterfinal win over Chelmsford. Orphanos ran for 90 yards and two scores on just 10 carries and Baker contributed 63 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground as well.

Adrian Peebles, Jack Lambert, Bridgewater-Raynham — Peebles had touchdown runs of 2 and 14 yards and Lambert delivered touchdown passes of 19 and 6 yards to propel the No. 3 Trojans over sixth-seeded Billerica, 28-7, in a quarterfinal win.

Kise Flannery, Catholic Memorial — The senior QB passed for touchdowns of 71 and 23 yards, and rushed for a 26-yard score in the first quarter as the top-seeded Knights ran by Wellesley, 47-0. He also had a 32-yard TD run in the second quarter.

Gianni DePrimeo, Winchester — His rushing scores of 13, 42, and 22 yards helped the fourth-seeded Red & Black cruise past No. 5 Lincoln-Sudbury, 38-21, in a quarterfinal.

    Division 3

Keigan Canto-Osorio and Tallan King, King Philip — The senior tailback tandem bullied their way to a combined 358 yards rushing and four touchdowns for the Warriors in a 42-12 quarterfinal victory over Mansfield.

Patrick Collins, Patrick Mason, and Ronan Sammon, Milton — The senior quarterback and receiver trio were again on point for the Wildcats, with Collins completing 12 of 14 passes for 345 yards and four touchdowns; Mason caught seven passes 159 yards and two scores, with Sammon grabbing three for 180 and two more TDs in a 41-27 quarterfinal victory over Masconomet.

Jayden McGuffie, Malden — In a 28-26 win over Lexington, the sophomore scored all four touchdowns and added a 2-point conversion in a 238-yard rushing performance (setting the program’s single-season record). After Lexington scored on the last play of regulation, he made a game-sealing tackle before the goal line on the conversion try.

Dom Pate, Reading — All-around dominance from the junior resulted in 418 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns for the Rockets in a 42-33 nonplayoff victory over Beverly. Pate totaled 253 yards rushing, including all five of his scores, as well as 133 yards on kick returns and 24 yards on two catches. For good measure, he picked off a pass.

Frankie Strachan, North Attleborough — For the second postseason game in a row, the senior powered his way to three rushing touchdowns for the Red Rocketeers, doing so for 190 yards on 40 carries in a 42-21 quarterfinal victory over Barnstable.

Jack Taft and Gabriel Beaule, Foxborough — Taft took 13 carries for 109 yards and two scores in a 28-0 quarterfinal win over Gloucester. At linebacker, he played a crucial role in stuffing the Fishermen’s potent run game alongside Beaule, who recorded 11 tackles — two for losses — and an acrobatic one-handed interception.

Gustavo Varela, Greater Lawrence — Continuing his dominant season, the senior rushed 18 times for 369 yards and five scores in a 48-13 nonplayoff win over Southeastern. He is 74 yards shy of 2,000 for the season, and 206 yards shy of the state’s career record.
