    DANNY, THANK YOU FOR THAT COMMITMENT. 2025. AND IT IS ELECTION DAY. TODAY, VOTERS IN 55 CITIES AND TOWNS ALL ACROSS MASSACHUSETTS ARE HITTING THE POLLS. THE POLLS CLOSE AT 8:00, JUST UNDER AN HOUR NOW. MEETING SOME OF THE FINAL BALLOTS ARE BEING CAST AS WE SPEAK. LET’S GO TO BOSTON. MAYOR MICHELLE WU WILL SEAL THE DEAL ON ANOTHER TERM. OUR POLITICAL REPORTER, SHARMAN SACCHETTI, IS LIVE RIGHT NOW IN BOSTON SEAPORT, WHERE MAYOR WU IS HOLDING AN EVENT TONIGHT. SHARMAN. THAT’S RIGHT. MARIA. SHE WILL BE CELEBRATING HERE INSIDE THIS RESTAURANT IN THE SEAPORT. HAVING DECLARED VICTORY ON THAT STAGE BEHIND ME. SHE WILL WIN A SECOND TERM IN OFFICE. NOW, THE MAYOR STARTED OUT HER DAY VOTING IN ROSLINDALE. SHE ALSO MADE A STOP AT SANTARPIA, AS IN EAST BOSTON, ALONGSIDE SOME OTHER CANDIDATES. NOW, BECAUSE SHE’S RUNNING UNOPPOSED, SHE’S BEEN SPENDING A LOT OF TIME STUMPING FOR CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES. THERE WERE FOUR AT LARGE CITY COUNCIL SEATS UP FOR GRABS. SHE IS ASKING VOTERS TO MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE POLLS AND MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD. THERE’S STILL TIME. TO ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO COME OUT. I RESPECTFULLY ASK FOR YOUR VOTE. THERE IS AN ELECTION AT THE MAYORAL LEVEL STILL, AND THERE’S AN ELECTION AT THE CITY COUNCIL LEVEL THAT MATTERS EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR OUR DAILY LIVES HERE IN THE CITY. SO MAYOR, WHOSE MAIN OPPONENT, JOSH CROFT, HE DROPPED OUT OF THE RACE WEEKS AGO AFTER SHE BEAT HIM BY A WIDE MARGIN IN THE PRELIMINARY ELECTION. AND SINCE THEN, SHE’S REALLY BEEN WORKING TO HELP REELECT CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES WHO REALLY ALIGN WITH HER AND CAN PUSH HER AGENDA. SO AGAIN, POLLS CLOSE IN LESS THAN AN HOUR. SO AS FAR AS OTHER LOCAL RACES ARE CONCERNED, WE’RE WATCHING ONE VERY CLOSELY IN EVERETT, THE INCUMBENT MAYOR, CARLISLE MARIA, IS FIGHTING TO KEEP HIS SEAT. HE HAS BEEN THE CENTER OF CONTROVERSY AFTER STATE’S INSPECTOR GENERAL DETERMINED THAT HE WAS OVERPAID. $180,000, CITY COUNCILOR ROBERT VAN KAMPEN IS RUNNING AGAINST HIM, AND IN SOMERVILLE, VOTERS CHOSE NOT TO ADVANCE THEIR CURRENT MAYOR DURING THE PRIMARY ELECTION, SO NOW THEY WILL DECIDE BETWEEN TWO CITY COUNCILORS, WILLIE BURNLEY JUNIOR AND JAKE WILSON, FOR THE NEXT MAYOR.     Fifty-five cities and towns across Massachusetts held municipal elections on Tuesday, including several cities that will elect new mayors.More ways to view results: Boston races | Mayoral racesBoston’s mayoral race was a foregone conclusion, with Mayor Michelle Wu appearing unopposed on the ballot after her top challenger withdrew from the race. However, Boston residents also faced several contested races for City Council. Right now, it goes from December 1 to March 31, preventing non-emergency vehicles from parking on any roads between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.In Revere, the city currently prohibits recreational marijuana businesses, and a non-binding question asks if people want to change that. The state legalized marijuana for recreational use in 2016.Several communities, including Somerville, Framingham, and Medford, have questions about mayoral terms.
