    Boston College Swimming & Diving Earns Home Victory Against UMass

    Boston College Swimming & Diving Earns Home Victory Against UMass

    Boston College Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving team scored a massive victory at home Saturday afternoon, defeating UMass 197-99 on the men’s side and 186-111 on the women’s side.
     
    The Eagles combined for 24 race wins, sweeping 10 events across the event’s entirety.
     
    The women’s 200 medley relay of Courtney Watts, Savannah Branon, Kaitlyn McMorrow, and Elizabeth Oliphant began the winning after recording a time of 1:44.85, followed by the men’s relay of Evan Tack, Darien Betances, Lucas Bailey, and Matt Lang, clocking a 1:30.83 to win the men’s 200 medley relay.
     
    Other highlights from the first portion of the meet included Ryan Mendlick setting a new personal best time of 1:41.10 in the men’s 200 free to win the race, and Evan Tack winning his first career race, taking home first place in the men’s 100 back after swimming a 50.00.
     
    On the diving boards, Alexiya Downer scored a 245.18 in the 1-meter event to earn her first collegiate victory. Following her were sweeping victories in the 200 back (Courtney Watts and Jonah Nathanson), 200 breast (Allie Donkar and Sirui Wang), 500 free (Julienne Saliou and Nick Fabian), and 100 fly (Kaitlyn McMorrow and Lucas Bailey).
     
    The Eagles concluded the event with wins from Julienne Saliou (2:07.61) in the women’s 200 IM, Evan Tack (1:54.24) in the men’s 200 IM, and both 400 free relays.

    Boston College looks ahead to its meet with Dartmouth on Saturday, October 18, at 1:00 p.m.
