Caleb Butler, Dr. Joaquín García football beat Boynton Beach

Senior quarterback Caleb Butler recaps Dr. Joaquín García football’s road victory over Boynton Beach on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025.

    Special to The Post

Which Palm Beach County high school sports team was the best in September? You tell us.

You can vote for The Post’s “Team of the Month” until Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. You don’t have to be a subscriber to vote.

The Post’s “Team of the Month” program will highlight the best high school sports team from Palm Beach County across the Florida High School Athletic Association’s fall, winter and spring seasons.

If you want to see your team included in upcoming editions of “Team of the Month,” contact Palm Beach Post deputy sports editor Eric Wallace (ejwallace@gannett.com) and high school sports reporter Alex Peterman (apeterman@gannett.com) to submit nominations.

Midseason football: Palm Beach County’s top players, storylines, and best games remaining

Here are the nominees for September’s “Team of the Month.” Be sure to vote in the poll below:

    Atlantic football

Who said head coach Jamelle Murray’s Eagles would be rebuilding in 2025? Atlantic football is off to a 5-0 start this season and produced three of those wins in September, including a 47-0 demolition of district rival Blanche Ely and a 43-20 blitzing of Miami Norland, both Top 100-ranked opponents. Atlantic is the highest ranked football team from Palm Beach County at No. 15 in the FHSAA’s latest state rankings.

    King’s Academy girls volleyball

Some might have expected King’s Academy girls volleyball to take a step back after the graduation of Kelly Kinney to the University of Minnesota. Local foes discovered otherwise in September, however, as the Lions went 12-2 in the month. King’s Academy (15-7) is the highest ranked volleyball team from Palm Beach County at No. 24 in the FHSAA’s latest state rankings.

    Benjamin boys golf

You can count Benjamin’s boys golf team among the very best varsity teams in the nation. The Bucs are currently ranked No. 1 in Florida and No. 4 overall in the United States per iWanamaker. Junior Charlie Woods won the individual championship and led the team to victory in the Palm League Invitational at Miami’s Biltmore Golf Course on Sept. 15. Breakout freshman Clint Lewis and Woods were the Bucs’ low players in a team victory at the South Florida PGA Invitational (West) in Naples on Sept. 27.

    Jupiter girls golf

The Warriors’ girls golf team is right in the mix among Palm Beach County’s best girls golf teams this season. Jupiter currently ranks No. 9 overall in Florida per iWanamaker. Senior Keala Richichi was the team’s low player in a win at the South Florida PGA Invitational (East) on Sept. 19 and she’s joined by sophomore Sarah Earl and freshman Olivia Hartman with a Top 100 individual ranking.

Spanish River boys and girls cross country

When Spanish River cross country runs, the rest of Palm Beach County chases. Led by Preston Sangely’s three individual race victories, the Sharks’ boys team has won two of its four meets this season and has yet to be bested by a Palm Beach County foe. The Sharks’ girls squad has been even better with three meet wins and a lone runner-up finish in four team events.

King’s Academy boys swimming and diving

The Lions picked up a pair of meet victories this September at the Florida Christian Schools Meet and the TOI at Indian River State College. King’s Academy is the highest ranked boys swim team in Palm Beach County at No. 7 overall in Florida in SwimCloud’s latest rankings.

Saint Andrew’s girls swimming and diving

The Scots are up to their usual tricks so far this season with meet victories at the Palm League Championship and the 20th Annual September Splash. The Saint Andrew’s girls swimming and diving team is the highest ranked swim team in Palm Beach County at No. 5 overall in Florida.

Eric J. Wallace is deputy sports editor for The Palm Beach Post. He can be reached at ejwallace@gannett.com.
