CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 16/15 Boston College men’s hockey team fell to St. Cloud State by a score of 5-3 on Saturday evening at Kelley Rink.

BC falls to 1-2-0 on the season while St. Cloud State moves to 2-3-0 on the year.

Teddy Mutryn, Carson Woodall, and Matias Vanhanen each scored their first collegiate goals, while Olivers Murnieks also recorded his first collegiate point with an assist. Leo Henriquez made his first collegiate start and made 20 saves.

St. Cloud scored midway through the opening period to take a 1-0 lead before tallying another just before the end of the first period to bring a 2-0 lead into the intermission.

The Huskies recorded a power play goal early in the second period to make it a 3-0 game.

The Eagles responded a few minutes later when Mutryn deflected home a shot for his first collegiate goal. Murnieks won the faceoff in the offensive zone and the puck fell to Radivojevic. Radivojevic fired it towards goal and Mutryn was in the right place at the right time to redirect it into the back of the net.

St. Cloud answered less than 30 seconds later to regain its three-goal advantage.

After the Huskies made it 5-1 early in the third, Boston College started to chip away at the deficit, first with a goal by Woodall just after the midway point of the final frame. The Eagles found themselves in a 5v3 opportunity and pulled Henriquez to go with the extra attacker and capitalized when Vanhanen found the back of the net to cut the deficit to two.

BC pushed for another goal to get back into the game but St. Cloud closed things out in the final two minutes of play.
