Former springboard diver, 2000 Sydney Olympian, and coach Michelle Sandelin said reaching the national championship level requires years of commitment and endless hours of training.

“Diving is year-round,” Sandelin said. “They work five to six hours a week, some of them like six to seven hours a day.”

Sandelin said the dedication extends well beyond time spend in the pool and on the edge of the diving board, with athletes focusing on strength training, flexibility, conditioning and mental preparation.
