Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College softball team (11-27, 2-10 ACC) welcomes ACC opponent Syracuse (12-16, 1-9 ACC) for a three-game weekend series that starts at 4 p.m. on Friday at Harrington Athletics Village and on ACCNX.
The series will also feature special events at Harrington Athletic Village. Saturday’s 3 p.m. game will be followed by the program’s first-ever Hit-A-Thon, while Sunday will host the Eagles’ annual Strikeout Cancer Game.
Last Time Out
Boston College hosted UConn in a midweek matchup Tuesday night, falling 6–5 in a close contest. Emma Knight led the offense, going 2-for-3 with an RBI as she continues her climb toward BC’s top-10 single-season list. Abby Ptak added her 12th double of the season, while the Eagles recorded 10 hits—marking their 11th game this year with double-digit hits. In the circle, Kelly Colleran struck out six over six innings of work.
PTAK ATTACK!
Abby Ptak continues to lead Boston College’s offense, pacing the team in batting average (.398), slugging percentage (.634), doubles (12), and hits (49). Her 12 doubles this season are tied for ninth in the ACC.
Ptak has recorded 16 multi-hit games this year and previously put together an 17-game hitting streak. The sophomore is on pace to break into Boston College’s single-season top 10 in batting average, needing to maintain a mark above .366 over the remaining games.
She is also closing in on additional program milestones, sitting just nine hits away from another top-10 single-season mark and one double shy of reaching a second category in the record book.
AD! AD!
Adriana Martinez has been a key contributor right behind Ptak, batting .341 with a 1.002 OPS. She has tallied six home runs this season, highlighted by a grand slam in a win over Pitt. Martinez has also recorded six multi-RBI games on the year.
Good Knight
Freshman Emma Knight has made an immediate impact, leading Boston College with 35 RBI while adding 37 hits on the season. She has recorded 12 multi-RBI games.
Knight leads the team with 10 home runs, including a two-homer showing in the Georgia Tech series. She now sits just one home run shy of breaking into Boston College’s single-season top 10 and is only three RBI away from reaching that milestone as well.
Following the UNC series, Knight etched her name into the record books as just the sixth Eagle to hit two home runs in a single game. She also drove in seven RBI in that performance, tying Hall of Famer Tatiana Cortez for the most in a single game, last accomplished in 2017.
Teamwork Dreamwork
As a team, Boston College is currently ranked in the top 10 in program single-season history across three offensive categories. The Eagles sit second in batting average (.282), third in slugging percentage (.423), and third in on-base percentage (.356).
BC is also on the verge of adding another category to that list, sitting just three home runs shy of breaking into the program’s top 10 in single-season home runs.
Scouting ‘Cuse
Boston College holds a 22-16 all-time record against Syracuse, with its most recent win coming at the 2024 ACC Tournament, a 1-0 victory that marked the Eagles’ only win over the Orange that season.
Syracuse enters the matchup with a 1-9 mark in ACC play, currently sitting just behind BC in the standings. Their lone conference win came in a 9–6 extra-inning victory over Pitt last weekend.
Jadyn Burney leads the Orange offensively and is the only hitter in the lineup batting above .300, posting a .375 average with 30 hits, three home runs, two triples, and 13 RBI.
In the circle, Madison Knight has logged a team-high 74.2 innings with a 4.22 ERA, while also contributing offensively with a .231 batting average and 18 hits. Julianna Verni has also been a key arm for Syracuse, throwing 58.2 innings and recording two saves on the season.
