Boston Bruins top prospect James Hagens signed an amateur tryout with the Providence Bruins back in late March. With Hagens being the Bruins’ top prospect, there is no question that he is a player to keep an eye on as he continues to play in Providence.

Hagens will be looking to impress during this ATO, as it would help his chances of him landing his entry-level contract from the Bruins before the season is over.

Right now, the 19-year-old forward is certainly heating up for Providence.

Hagens has recorded an assist in back-to-back games for Providence. He also has four points over his last five games, so he has been finding his offensive game at the AHL level.

Hagens’ skill with the puck has been on full display with Providence, and that is undoubtedly encouraging to see. If Hagens can continue to produce offensively during his ATO, we could end up seeing him get his chance with Boston before the season is over.

Nevertheless, it will be intriguing to see how Hagens performs down the stretch from here. He is playing some strong hockey for Providence, and it is hard not to be excited about his future with the Black and Gold.
