Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Boston College softball team (10-19, 2-3 ACC) used a powerful sixth inning to tie up the series against the University of Pittsburgh (16-12, 3-5 ACC) in a 6-3 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams were quiet till the fourth inning when Emma Knight opened up with a home run over the center field fence, her second of the weekend and eighth of the season. The Panthers tied it up in the bottom of the fourth 1-1.
The Eagles loaded up the bases in the top of the sixth putting pressure on the Pitt defense. Adriana Martinez cleared the bases with a home run to right to take a 5-1 lead. But BC wasn’t done there, Nicole Riddell also added a home run of her own, extending the lead to 6-1.
Even though Pitt added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, BC held on 6-3.
Bailey Kendziorski pitched all seven innings for her second complete game and first win of the season. The sophomore recorded four strikeouts with only one earned run.
