FILE – U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi swears in the new Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel as his girlfriend Alexis Wilkins holds the Bhagavad Gita in the Indian Treaty Room in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on Feb. 21, 20

A Massachusetts man was arrested after law enforcement said he allegedly threatened FBI Director Kash Patel’s girlfriend through email.

Alden Welch Ruml, 26, allegedly sent an email to Alexis Wilkins that said he would be “happy” when her face is “canoed by an assault rifle,” according to court documents obtained by Reuters.

    Dig deeper:

Ruml allegedly sent the email after becoming upset about a news article regarding Wilkins, Reuters reported.

He was arrested on Friday and charged by federal prosecutors with making threats in interstate commerce.

    The article that upset Ruml

    The backstory:

The article that compelled Ruml to allegedly send the threatening email to Wilkins was about how Patel utilized FBI resources to provide security for his girlfriend.

Ruml also was not a fan of the conservative political views Patel and Wilkins shared, nor their association with the Make America Great Again movement, Reuters said.

    What they’re saying:

“Watch your back,” the email allegedly read.

    What’s next:

Ruml has pleaded not guilty to the charges. If found guilty, he could face a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

The Source: Information for this article was taken from a Reuters report. This story was reported from San Jose.
