SPENCER, Massachusetts — A suspect died after a Massachusetts police officer was shot multiple times Tuesday night during an investigation in Spencer, Mass.
Millbury, Mass. Police Chief Brian S. Lewos said the officer, who is also a member of the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT team, was shot at 7:40 p.m.
During a press briefing, police said the suspect died after an exchange of gunfire with police.
The officer was taken to the hospital and is in “stable condition,” police said.
Spencer police said in a Facebook post at 6:05 p.m. that an investigation was underway in the Big Y plaza near Route 9. They said the roadway would be closed and asked people to avoid the area.
