Protest at City Hall
Laura Gagnon of Worcester Party for Socialism and Liberation leads chants at protest following killing of Renee Nicole Good
Following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minnesota, protests broke out across Massachusetts on Jan. 8 with more to come over the weekend.
On Thursday, a crowd of about 200 protesters chanted “No ICE, no KKK, no fascist USA” in downtown Worcester while several hundred people marched in Boston.
Tensions remain high across the country as another shooting involving immigration agents occurred in Portland. On Jan. 8, a U.S. Border Patrol officer shot and wounded two people, saying that the driver was a suspected Venezuelan gang member who “weaponized his vehicle.”
Anti-Trump grassroots organizations like 50501 and Indivisible are organizing “ICE Out For Good” protests across Massachusetts and the country this weekend, with other protests likely to occur as well. Here’s what to know.
