The latest MLB update is that the Red Sox are considering a reunion with Chris Martin, while Michael King and Mark Vientos’ trade possibility swirls.
The 2025 MLB winter meetings have witnessed multiple signings and trades. Big-market teams have made a huge leap, and several other teams pulled off surprising trade deals. The New York Mets were one team that failed to do what fans wanted. The Toronto Blue Jays have done a great job this offseason, but the rumors are far from over. Here’s the latest news from the league.
Boston Red Sox Considering Reunion with MLB Free Agent Chris Martin
The Boston Red Sox were expected to sign Pete Alonso, but things didn’t go as planned. Alex Bregman is still a free agent, and the Red Sox seem to be having a dull MLB offseason. There is plenty of time, and a reunion with Breggy still seems possible. However, the latest rumors state that Chris Martin could wear the Red Sox gear again.

Martin is one of those easy-to-sign MLB free agents who is waiting for an opportunity. Yet, at 39, Martin is no Justin Verlander or Max Scherzer. It would still be a risk for the Red Sox to pick up Martin.

The Orioles surprised many by signing Pete Alonso. The franchise wants to become playoff eligible, and they are ready to make a few more changes. As for the Yanks, it doesn’t make sense for the team to bring in King with an already tight starting rotation.
Mets Rumored to Part Ways with Mark Vientos
The Mets let go of Brandon Nimmo for Marcus Semien in a surprising MLB trade. They failed to sign Pete Alonso and lost Edwin Diaz to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The latest rumors state that they could let go of Mark Vientos.
